The hour glass, ticking time bomb, salt & pepper shake, dangerous curves ahead
People often ask me how long I’ve been tight lacing for or waist training however you want to put it and for some reason beyond my knowledge I always say ‘about 3 or four years’ well I’m wrong!
Time fly’s as we all know & it’s been a lot longer than I realised, while on the train home the other evening I started thinking about my first corset. I received my first corset as a 19th Birthday gift! I’d followed the guide on What Katie Did measured myself up and picked the corset I thought would suit me best [Mae 26” under bust black satin corset]
I can’t explain the adulation I felt when the package finally arrived! A large flat rectangular box which encased a black satin back that had a blue ‘what Katie did’ logo on with light baby blue ribbons [the old corset bags they sold] it was beautiful & at the time I hadn’t imagined the steel boned corset to be so heavy. It took a while to get used to as well as lacing myself up but after a while it just became natural and I was wearing it for a minimum of ten hours a day. WKD became my favourite corset brand & each year after I treated myself to a new Mae via the website.
The Visit!
Early this year I finally had some spare time in London and got to make the pilgrimage to the What Katie Did boutique! I did blog about my experience Vicky the assistant was amazing & really made the whole trip worth it and I left with a brand new corset however this time I went for an under bust Morticia with a spoon busk in black satin – I only changed the type of corset I buy due to Vicky’s suggestion and if it hadn’t been for her I’d have never in a million years tried on the 24” but I did and it fit like a dream and absolutely made my day!! – I visited the store again two weeks later during the 50% off sale and bought a white raw silk under bust Morticia corset and then just three weeks ago I bought a new under bust corset from WKD for my brand new act to be debut in September! – Which is going to go perfectly with the Nell Robe I have purchased from Betty Blue!
I know What Katie Did are not waist training corsets! [As a side note] you should buy custom made corsets that you have been measured for and are cut specifically for you. However since I bought my first one I have always worn it to reduce my waist by a significant amount & as all girls who fancy doing this should I get checks done by my doctor to make sure I’m not damaging anything in the long run.
My natural waist is about 30” [I’m probably being generous to myself] and I can currently corset down to 24” which is a huge reduction!
