I don't seem to be keeping a proper update on my blog!! tut tut! tumblr seems to be taking over my social networking time! I picked up some bangles for my Carmen Miranda act! Hair!I've been watching some wonderful tutorials on youtube as I need a few new ideas for hair styling! I'm bored of the victory rolls I can do, pin curls and such! so wanted to try something new ..... I need togetracticing! Setting time aside to practice routines is something I find quite hard but recently I've managed to gran an hour or so every couple of nights to practice! the last week it's been my fan dance routine! and generally just working with my fans to get them to move the way I want ant cme up with new ways to make my fan dance interesting and not like every other Burlesque artist. Now that I've swapped jobs and have to wear a uniform I've started wearing all my lovely underwear ...... not that I own anything that isn't silk, satin or similar! I've decided it's like my little super power under my cothes! like Superman having his outfit under his suit with the big S, I strip off to reveal some seriously lovely underwear! Due to the horrid weather recently I was very pleased to get to wear my beautiful fur out! well I think that's all to update ... apart from the fact I'm terribly annoyed with Collectif! as I ordered dress on the 10th they didn't hesitate to take my money and then never sent me a dispatched email! and even after emailing 3 times and messaging on the website twice it took a post on terfcebook wall for them to PM me and tell me to contact them on the 29th if it hasn't arrived!! 19 days after the purchase... with the £30 gone out of my account,. Nedlss to say I won't be ordering from them again!! It's such ashame as I'd heard such good things.

I'm so excited to be moving house in a month and three days today that I've been scouring the charity shops for wonderful retro and vintage finds to fill my new house with! This time I want it to be more of a home than a house as I'd like to stay at this one longer than 6 months or at most a year. So I've been spending my free days looking for fabulous kitchen pieces and anything that generally catches my eye as i can see myself been broke this summer and spending a lot of time in! I picked up this retro magazine rack in Debra for £2 - I thought it would be fabulous to hold all my Vintage Life Magazine, Bizarre Magazine and maybe even a few books! This bowl was in Bernardos for £2.49 I picked it up but then put it back down thinking I may want something else more in another shop as you can see i went back and bought it! This fabulous burnt orange vintage case was £2.99 from PDSA! It's wonderful and will soon be added to my grey, teal, emerald and red costume cases for shows. I found this wonderful tropical parrot covered jug in Oxfam for £1.99!! that's the cheapest thing I've ever found in Oxfam as I usually avoid it due to there ridiculous over priced stock! and the last piece is this wonderful cup and saucer set! 4 wonderfully retro pieces that were my second purchase of the day1 I adore them! the pattern is amazing and the lady behind the desk was a doll and told me about the Vintage fair for Cancer Research in shirley on the 25th June! I was going to post the flyer up but i don't seem to have a copy of it!! These are two bad quality imaged of last weeks Cancer Research finds!! I'm so happy with them and can not wait to move now!
Well, well Kittens what a week! Thursday had been a day I’d been looking forward to for a very, very long time! I couldn’t believe how calm I felt about it all as I was performing at Coco de Mer! In Covent Garden for an hour 6 – 7. Hannah met me at Euston at 3:30 and we went and had lunch together before heading to Covent Garden. On arrival, which we had to make a quick stop to pick up champagne, we met the Coco de Mer staff who all looked immaculate and were so welcoming. I was shown in to one of the dressing rooms with Hannah and as she began to blow balloons I began to change! The staff were wonderful and offered us refreshments and a choice of music. I’d never been to the Covent Garden store before and it was total fetish luxury, it was heaven to say the least. After getting dressed I got up in to the window and began my strip tease, the passersby were lovely, smiling, waving with quite a few people taking videos and photographs on their phone! My favourite were the group of tourists who came in and asked my friend to take a picture of me with them, but the back of me with my fans up, it made my day! Along with the lovely couples who shouted inside and the staff in the stores across waving and smiling! My performance went down so well the Coco de Mer staff let me stay on for an extra 40 minutes fan dancing, which I really enjoyed. Leaving the window the manager took some photographs of me in the changing rooms and then I changed and came back out to find Hannah buying books and bits and pieces which gave me a bit of time to take a proper look round. Everything was magnificent, the underwear, cutlery, books .... Wonderful! I purchased a set of tassels and the manager, such a doll, gave me 50% off and the opportunity to come back to perform again! I can’t wait, I can’t explain how wonderful the whole experience was and I’m so glad everyone enjoyed it. Hopefully I'll get the images from Coco de Mer soon and I shall post them to my blog. I had a lovely time with Hannah in London again but sadly we didn't make it to the ice bar but theres always next time! Candid shot from London via the Blackberry ... oh and me getting dressed! Friday evening I popped along to the opening of Le Keux Events where they now have a HQ in the Custard Factory! The store was wonderful with a little Besame stall where you could purchase the Besame vintage line, a little pink dressing table and stall with many vintage photographs around where for £5 you could have a wonderfully kitsch vintage hair style! There was a make shift studio space where again for £5 you could have a little taste pin up shoot and near that a wonderful cake stand as well as the lovely vintage Life ladies selling copies of their newly launched magazine with the fabulous Kitten von Mew on the cover! If I hadn’t been penniless I’d have purchased a subscription. The entertainment was fabulous too with a live singer who looked like Buddy Holly singing all the Buddy Holly hits while the vintage guys and dolls danced along! I was happily surprised to see Kitty Ribbons who I’d had the pleasure of meeting in Bristol at the Cats Meow a few weeks back. I was pleased to see it was Kitty performing as I’d also asked to perform at the event but apparently just missed out. Sunday: was the show at the Custard Factory for the Birmingham Tattoo Convention, Forever: art inspired by ink! I felt very lucky to be asked by the wonderful Claire from cherry pop pictures to come along and perform and there were quite a few artists, tattooists and jewellery makers going.
I felt super nervous though for the first time properly in two years as the lovelies from university were coming and most the people I work with, so to say I was panicking a bit would be an understatement. Luckily Tom was there to blow balloons and calm me down! And Sam managed to fix the pearls on my pants as I snapped them before going on! As soon as I got out there I felt fine, my corset clip got stuck which threw me a little but other than that I was very pleased! Especially with the pink champagne going everywhere [apologies if I got anyone, I didn’t mean to] Everyone seemed to really enjoy it, Hayley who makes the most awesome dolls was there watching and made a lovely comment about my bum and it seems the university lovelies had a good time too! Even Min soo who I’m not sure knew what she was getting herself in to until after. After drying off from the champagne pour I had some time to look around at the art: if it’s on next year is defiantly work the trip if not for the amazing art, fantastic cupcakes or awesome dolls but for the sheer amount of attractive men and women! Wonderful! I'm looking forward to recieving the photographs from Forever and Coco de Mer and getting them up on the blog! All in all one amazing week, roll on next week! Burly love Miss. VV |
